About the show

This sleeper agent is on his most important mission ever. Only problem – he has no idea what it is. From the clown/game show creators of last year's Edinburgh Fringe hit Help Me!!!! (an interactive mime séance) comes I Was Never Here: a highly interactive, gonzo spy thriller featuring an overzealous secret agent searching for activation phrases which will help him regain sections of his memory. Play along, decode cyphers, answer phones and most importantly remember – you never saw any of this.

About the film

This documentary follows Leo Lion as he travels to Edinburgh to stage an ambitious one-man spy show at the Fringe. What begins as a theatrical mission quickly becomes a deeply personal exploration of what it means to pursue a creative dream. Through the wins, failures, awkward encounters, financial pressure, endless self-promotion, and emotional exhaustion, the documentary unveils the reality of independent artistry: the parts audiences rarely see. This is more than just a behind-the-scenes look at putting on a show. The film explores the human need to be seen, heard, and believed in, while revealing the sheer amount of sacrifice, resilience, and vulnerability it takes to create something - from nothing - to the world.
